Walaupun begitu, benar atau tidaknya Chen EXO menyebut Kunta Kinte dan Michol masih menjadi perdebatan. Sebab dalam terjemahan teks bahasa Inggris tertulis Chen berkata, “Bibirku terlihat terlalu tebal.” Namun beberapa fans merasa yakin mereka mendengar Chen menyebut dua karakter rasis tersebut.

“Benerkan Jongdae ngomong Kinta Kinte? Seseorang tolong yakinkan aku kalau yang aku dengar itu salah,” tulis salah satu fans. “Sederhana saja, orang akan mendengar apa yang dia mau dengar. Aku merasa kasihan sama mereka yang memikirkan hal-hal (rasis) seperti ini,” bela penggemar yang lain.
